The use of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is an established and widely applied option in the treatment of open and/or infected wounds. Several benefits have been attributed to NPWT, including increased local perfusion to damaged tissue, elimination of interstitial oedema, increased granulation tissue formation, and increased bacterial clearance.
