Pain remains one of the most common and feared symptoms associated with cancer. It is prevalent in 59% of patients on active anti-cancer treatment and 64% of patients with metastatic, advanced or terminal disease. Furthermore, 33% of patients who had been cured of cancer also report pain (Schrijvers, 2007)
