The promotion and maintenance of skin integrity is one of the most common problems faced by staff in any care setting, and the frequent combination of elderly skin and incontinence can be a particularly challenging one. Not surprisingly a large proportion of time and effort is spent on interventions aimed at preventing skin breakdown and restoring skin barrier function.
