Wound pain can cause considerable suffering and distress to patients. Evidence suggests that there is a link between stress and delayed wound healing, and that pain itself is implicated in this relationship. It is essential that stress and pain are assessed and managed effectively during wound management, to promote the rapid healing of chronic wounds
